Full Rainbow

I was getting all excited about starting my 30 day challenge up on Wednesday, but it seems that God had it planned for me to start a bit earlier! :o)

He sent this beautiful full rainbow yesterday afternoon and it lasted long enough for me to get a panoramic shot of it.
I don't know if this picture captures the whole essence of the rainbow, but it was truly breathtaking!

30 Day Photo Challenge

Stay Tuned!

I know it is unlike me to post on my blog without a picture, but there will be plenty of pictures coming soon!

I am not going to take the awesome challenge of doing a 365 day photo blog yet, but I am going to give my best shot at doing a post (with a picture) every day for the entire month of September.

We shall have to wait and see what images come out of this fun project.  I am hoping to boost my creative skills and learn some new lighting techniques over this 30 day period, and I hope you enjoy it as well!

According to my calendar, the first post should be up sometime this Wednesday!

A "Just Because" Shoot

Have you ever taken out your camera, gotten together with some other photographer buddies and done a "just because" shoot?  It is very refreshing, because there is no deadlines, clients, pressure...anything!  You just hang out, try new angles, composition...etc. and talk shop.

Wade Reed and I did one of those shoots a few days ago and Wade's older brother Drew came along to model.

Wade, doing his thing.
(You can check out his work on his family blog)

Getting intense...

Have I ever mentioned that I love brick walls?

Wade is a die-hard Nikon shooter.

A little bit of silhouette practice.

Mackinac Island

We found a fitting location to for the t-shirt that I was wearing at the site of the British landing on Mackinac.

I really love this picture.  The old buildings were fantastic!

Most of the houses on the island's bluffs are huge old historic houses, very cool.

Ethan and Reid take a break during the bike trip around the island.

I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the Katterman family a little better.

Ethan was collecting all the shiny black rocks that he could find.

I think I know a future photographer when I see one!

The whole Thacker clan.

This Schwinn water bottle was one of my best friends during the trip.  It helped me be able to bike almost 100 miles that week!

Hotel on the waterfront...

A classic of Mackinac Island, high tailing it!

This picture so needs a motivational saying to go along with it! ;o)

I love the "small town" feeling that the whole island has...it is amazing!

The Grand Hotel

Here is one of my favorite building shots from my trip to Mackinac Island this week.
More photos to come in the near future!
