After looking at some awesome Kelly Moore, and Epiphanie women's photography bags, we decided we liked the functionality of a stylized purse/camera bag, but we weren't sold on the price tags that were anywhere from $160-$350.
We did a little research and found a super cool and affordable alternative. We would love to share this with all you photogs out there that want to have a camera bag that is large enough to hold all your gear, but doesn't scream, ugly black camera bag. :)
First, we found a Domke camera bag insert for $30. You can get all sorts of sizes and shapes of these, but we chose the standard large sectioned one so that Nicole would have room for all her lenses and gear.
Then we headed over to one of our favorite stores (Kohl's) and found a large Jennifer Lopez purse that would fit the dimensions of the Domke insert. Of course it was on sale, who buys full priced things at Kohl's, right? ;) $58
We chose this bag for functionality of the color (to hide wear and tear) ease of carrying, for those Chicago day trips and extra pockets, for small cards, cords...etc.
Here is a view of what we initially dropped in the bag. As you can see, there is even a little room to spare for another lens or that water bottle or wallet that you don't want to carry.
And here is what fit in the bag with a little room to spare:
1. Canon 50D with battery grip and 50mm
2. Canon batter charger
3. Battery grip AA clip
4. Speedlight Flash
5. Canon 15mm fisheye
6. Canon 28-135mm with lens hood
7. Canon 55-250mm with lens hood
Overall, it is a very comfortable bag to carry and only cost a total of $88. Not bad for a fashionable way to carry and protect your photography equipment.
If you try this out, we would love to see what bag/insert combo you come up with, the possibilities are endless!
