Hello there my blog following friends, I have big news.
I am posting the first giveaway from Photography by Jack!
I hope to do many more fun giveaways in the future as I am able to, but this one is just plain awesome.
The winner will be chosen on December 3rd so I hope you will all participate and have some fun.
Okay, first off, here is the totally amazing thing that I am giving away.
No, these are not real lenses that I am giving away. You can close your mouth now.
These are some super cool coffee mugs, made for the photographer in you!
I will give away one of these lenses, your choice if you win and I will ship it for free to anywhere in the United States or Canada. (And just for the record, whichever lens is not chosen, I am going to keep for personal use! :o)
You don't have to own a SLR camera to enter this contest, you don't even have to own a camera! And my apologies to all you Nikon shooters, but both the lenses are Canon. Feel free to participate though, they would make a great Christmas gift for one of your Canon friends!
I can't give away these totally amazing "photographerish" items without you doing something, so here is what you have to do to enter the giveaway.
Leave a comment on this post or my Photography by Jack Facebook page with a short line on what you love about photography.
You may comment as many times as you would like to, but only one entry will be recorded per person.
BUT! Here is a sneaky way for me to get more people following my pages and a good way to reward those of you who already do. If you leave a comment and you are following the blog or the Facebook page, you will be entered TWICE in the giveaway! See...who says I don't reward the people who support me? :o)
Also, please feel free to send this page to any of your photography friends who would like to have one of these coffee mugs, the more people participating, the better!

ReplyDeleteHi, Just discovered your blog through a friend on Facebook. Though I'm the old lady in the crowd (but not *that* old), I've been shooting since I was a little girl. Now with my digital, I love capturing faces and eyes--such wonderful expressions and emotions!
ReplyDeleteWhat I love about photography is being able to create and capture memories with friends and family.
ReplyDeleteThe thing I love about photography is being able to help a couple remember (or tell...if they didn't see) everything about their wedding day: decorations, wedding party, accessories, weather, etc.
ReplyDeleteI love photography because I'm so good at it. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat do you I love about photography??? Well, that is a loaded question! I love being able to capture present moments that will be preserved for the future. I discover more and more of God's beautiful creation when I am looking through my camera. And lastly it is soooo much fun to make someone else happy through my photographs! Awesome giveaway, being both passionate about Canons and a coffee addict. :)
ReplyDeletePS I am now a follower!
I love photography 'cause I can capture those brief, split-second pictures of Gods creation. :)
ReplyDeleteAs a wedding photographer, a man deeply in love, a people lover, a seeker of enjoying and living life to the hilt every moment I believe to be the will of God, I cannot help but be very passionate in saving these moments of LIFE. This life that I live will NEVER to be lived again. Your life will never be lived again. Only YOU can love the way you do. Only I can love the way I do. To create nostalgia and inflict pain of the lingering moments of a time too wonderful... yet never to be lived again in any other way but in your heart and in my images. To testify of beauty and redeem it's necessary quality in our lives. The challenge is one I will never fully fulfill and the goal to make images that don't just say 1 word, but truly speak forth tomes of truth and beauty. That is my goal, my passion, my love for my art, photography.
ReplyDeleteI love photography because I love the expressions that can be captured in children's ( or adults) eyes.
ReplyDeleteI love the fact that with photography I can capture a memory a special moment, and overall TRY to show the BEAUTY of Life and God's creation thru a camera lens. Its one of my goals in life to make other people happy by helping them capture memories in a picture that they can cherish for a long time!
ReplyDeleteI love being a visual story-teller of LIFE the way only I can see it... I guess that's the short answer to why I love photography.
ReplyDeleteI love photography because I love being able to give something to someone that they really value but can't do for themselves. Seeing the delight on their faces once you unveil the finished product makes all the hours of prop-carrying, coaxing, and photoshop totally worth it!
ReplyDeletewow... sweet man. I saw your link on Britton's blog.... so. not to be left out, i'll tell you what I love about photography: I love capturing the moment that goes unnoticed, that second that people go, WOW, that's an amazing picture, how come I didn't see that? I love capturing the truth in a photo, i love to capture REALITY, the RAW, the UNCENSORED, to capture an event in all it's detail, the way it REALLY happened. I'm a photojournalist at heart. That's what I love about photography.
ReplyDeletephotography is the power to capture a moment, a story, a feeling, a personality -to express both beauty and sorrow, and anything in between, visually. Forever. I love doing it myself and looking at other people's visual expressions of life.
ReplyDeleteI love photography because nothing gives me greater joy then to be able to capture life in a picture. To figure out which angle, style or setting will freeze this moment accurately. Holding that camera in my hand, setting the lighting, pressing the shutter, freezing that God-given moment, nothing gives me greater joy.
ReplyDeleteSweetness!! Got this link from Britton's blog.
ReplyDeletePhotography is a way for me to express my thoughts, emotions, creativity... and to express other's in the photos that I take of them. That's why I love it. :)
God bless. :)
Oh and I'm a follower now ;)
ReplyDeleteYou guys are amazing! I can tell you all love photography and have a passion for getting that amazing shot.
ReplyDeleteYou all truly are inspiring me with your thought-filled comments! I wish I could give you ALL a coffee mug for your input! :o)
There are many things that come to mind about photography. My favorite is being able to freeze memories and the emotions in a tangible way.
ReplyDeleteI also love looking at other photographer's works b/c it gives me a glimpse of what they are as a person as well as how they "see" the world around them.
I had to think awhile on this one, my first thought was because it's so fun!
ReplyDeleteThen the more I thought about why I really adore photography, specifically portrait photography, it hit me:
I love capturing images that remind people of how beautiful our great God has made them.
If I were to put into words why I love photography I would sound like a broken record repeating what has already been said by everyone else!
ReplyDeleteThere's just something about being behind the eye view of a camera, capturing a moment that can last forever. Whether it’s a little child playing in the leaves, or a family posing on train tracks in hopes of a unique family picture, or perhaps a couple who has been married for 50 years and are still as much in love as ever---There's something invigorating about it. Capturing memories and sharing them for generations to come.
The most exciting thing to me about photography is that when you take a picture of someone or something, you’re not just taking a picture, but rather you are capturing a story behind the picture—because, every picture comes with a story to tell!
I love sharing the simplicity of our complex lives. I love shooting the once in a lifetime moments hoping they touch the lives of the people who see them as much as they touch me! I love capturing forever the moments most people are to busy to see and most often overlooked and forgotten.
ReplyDeletePhotography captures the moments that would otherwise be forgotten. Also you can view pictures the beauty of God's creation in places that you have never been.
ReplyDeleteI was reminded yesterday of why I love photography through a story that I heard read aloud by the girl who wrote it. In photography, you can capture something that you saw that no one else did. This is the only way I can think of to literally share life through your eyes with someone else.
ReplyDeleteWhat i really like about photography is the memories and art that you can capture

Awesome!
ReplyDeleteI love photography because it brings out the personality in me... AND it is a good way to capture God's creation... or anything for that matter!
Stepheny
Great idea, Jack! Thanks for sharing your talents through your blog.
ReplyDeleteA lot of good comments posted so far.
One aspect that I don't think was brought up yet is that photography communicates quickly and succinctly. We've all heard the old adage "a picture is worth a thousand words". You can go through great lengths explaining to someone what an object looks like, but show a picture and they'll know exactly what you're talking about.
Keep up the good work!
-Ben
I enjoy seeing the look on a child's face when they see themselves on the Camera.
ReplyDeletePhotography is a way to express yourself! A means for a photographer to show his or her own unique view of life.
ReplyDeleteWhat I like about a photography is that you get to capture the art of God !!!!
ReplyDelete~Anna~
I like photography because it allows you to easily and instantly create beautiful art even without alot of talent.
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome! We enjoy looking at your blog :)
ReplyDeleteLauren
I love photography for the non-verbal statements photos make. And to balance that statement .... a picture is worth a thousand words!
ReplyDeleteBecause you can capture so much in a photo.
ReplyDeleteI like photography because you can capture so many memories, and because with the settings you can some time make a picture better than it does even in real life.
